George F. Martin was born in New Jersey and grew up on the Jersey shore. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute and received a Bachelor in Fine Arts in 1975 with a major in Oil Painting and studied cartooning. In addition to painting, he also works as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, producing illustrations for children’s books, greeting cards, magazines and film. Clients include Children's Television Network, Hallmark Cards, King Features Syndicate, Andrews MacMeel and Schurman Fine Papers among others. He is married to a lovely and talented woman from Spain. They live in Kansas City with their 3 cats and dog.
